How does HireRight verify past employment?
To verify your employment history, HireRight generally contacts your previous employers (or their representatives) directly to confirm the information you provided.
Does HireRight check current employer?
Hireright Current Employer Verification service verifies a candidate’s current job while protecting their privacy. The HireRight service checks candidate-provided documentation like W-2 forms, paychecks and other verifiable proof of employment.
What questions does HireRight ask previous employers?
When requested for candidates working in certain positions, the employer may also ask the agency to provide a report detailing the candidate’s credit history. Education and Credential Verification

What information does HireRight verify?
HireRight generally verifies the data that candidates have provided in their resumes, applications, background forms and/or interviews. They also check public data sources for information that may help the employer assess the candidate’s honesty and employment risk.
What happens if HireRight can’t verify?
If employment cannot be confirmed by the verifying party within five (5) business days in the United States or seven (7) business days elsewhere, the applicant will be contacted for additional information, documentation or clarification, unless client guidelines state otherwise.

A background check will investigate a candidate’s background based on criteria determined by their prospective or current employer. A check of a candidate’s background may include employment, education, criminal records, credit history, motor vehicle and license record checks.
How long does a HireRight background check take?
This depends on the nature and scope of the background check your current or potential employer has requested. An average employment screening check will typically take between 10-15 working days. However, this may be extended depending on circumstances beyond our control.
Do arrests show up on HireRight?
For the purposes of reporting, it should be noted that HireRight only reports criminal convictions and certain types of criminal offenses that have or will be prosecuted and may result in a conviction (e.g. probation before judgment, deferred adjudication, etc.). However, HireRight does not report arrests.
Does HireRight call employer?
HireRight will never contact your current employer without your permission first. You will be asked if we can contact your current employer immediately, after a certain date, or not at all as part of the application form (and we will act accordingly).
How do companies verify employment history?
Employment history verification involves contacting each workplace listed in a candidate’s resume to confirm that the applicant was in fact employed there, to check what the applicant’s job title(s) were during their work tenure, and the dates of the applicant’s employment there.

First, HireRight’s customers can specify how far back they want the search to go, with seven years being the most common choice, but other options include 10 years as well as “unlimited” – which searches for all records that are reasonably available.
Does HireRight have my resume?
HireRight does not do the comparison themselves. Wondering if anyone can verify that HireRight NEVER sees your resume or original application and only sees the HireRight submitted form? They go off the application. They do not care about your resume.
